Google Cloud pumps $300 million into AI Firm Anthropic🔥

We have some exciting news to share with you today. Google Cloud has reportedly invested $300 million into AI startup firm Anthropic. The news was confirmed by Anthropic on Feb. 4 and the company expressed their excitement about using Google Cloud to train their AI systems, including Claude.

As you see, Google is the OG of AI in big tech companies, and in recent news after cutting down the workforce is pretty scary 😨 

Anthropic also confirmed that they raised capital from former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and other investors in its Series B fundraising round.

The round was led by Bankman-Fried and included participation from Caroline Ellison, Jim McClave, Nishad Singh, Jaan Tallinn, and the Center for Emerging Risk Research (CERR). The fundraising took place in April 2022 and raised a total of $580 million, with over $530 million coming from Bankman-Fried and his former business partners.

The partnership with Google Cloud will allow Anthropic to utilize Google Cloud's GPU and TPU clusters to train and expand its AI chatbox, Claude. Financial Times reports that Google Cloud received about a 10% stake in Anthropic as part of the investment.

As for Bankman-Fried, he remains under house arrest in California and has pleaded not guilty to all eight fraud and conspiracy-based charges laid against him. His trial date is set for Oct. 2, 2023.
